General information

With  V grade, the pioneers of Dolomite climbing stepped out of their comfort zone and really began to push their boundaries to the limit, pursuing ever greater difficulties: the verticality of the walls is no longer just an impression – the level of exposure is very real!! Often we’ll be moving along slabs where the orientation gets more difficult. Even today, years after they were first opened, you still need to have well-developed intuition, be fast and decisive to ascend these routes.

Climbing on the 5th grade means reaching the threshold of the mythical VI grade – the moment at which you can rightly call yourself a  true Dolomite Alpinist!

Great Classics

Punta Fiames, Pomagagnon – Jori Edge V. Scenic route with very unusual crack pitches.

Sella Tower III (III Torre, Sella) – Vinatzer Route V+. Battista Vinatzer’s masterpiece. Climbing along cracks, dihedrals and chimneys – this route has it all, even a famous section to summit the roof after the Great Ledge.

Sass d’Ortiga, Pale di San Martino – Wiessner Kees Route V. The complex approach is more than made up for by superlative rock.

Cima d’Ambiez, Brenta – Fox Stenico Route V/A0 VI+. A hard route along the excellent rock of the Ambiez Valley.

Cima della Madonna, Pale di San Martino – Velo Spur V. Aesthetic route on excellent rock.

Tofana di Rozes, Tofane – I Spur V. One of the best V grade routes in the Ampezzo Bowl…

Tofana di Rozes, Tofane – III Spur V. A long and enjoyable route.

Catinaccio – Diretta Steger V+. Extremely wild and remote route on the East Face of Catinaccio.

Pala del Rifugio, Pale di San Martino – Frisch Corradini Route V. A complex route due to its orientation. However, the rock is excellent with a long and complicated descent.

Crozzon, Brenta – The Guides’ Route V+. The tour de force by Detassis. Don’t underestimate the long return trail…

Sass Maor, Pale di San Martino  – Solleder Route V+/A0 (VI+). This route uncovers the only weak point along the vertiginous East Face of Sass Maor.

Agner – North Spur V/A0 (VI). One of the longest routes in the Alps. Superb rock in a truly wild setting to say the least.
